Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures
At Hugh Mercer Elementary School, student safety during arrival and dismissal is our top priority. Families should use the designated car rider line and follow staff directions during both drop-off and pick-up.

Effective September 15, 2025, the car rider line will operate as a single lane for family vehicles. Only daycare vans are permitted to use the second lane for entering and exiting.

Parents and families must remain in their vehicles at all times. HMES staff will load and unload students daily. The car rider process ends at 8:30 AM when the tardy bell rings. Students in the car rider line by 8:30 AM will be allowed to enter the building. If you arrive after 8:30 AM, you must park and check your child in through the front office.

To help us maintain a safe and orderly dismissal, students may not be picked up after 2:30 PM, except in the case of an emergency. Follow staff directions and use the designated car rider lane.

Only parents who live within walking distance may escort their child to school. A staff member will assist students in using the crosswalk safely.
